Interesting article in Techcrunch today about Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications company, banning its approximately 49,000 employees from using Facebook.

What suprised me was this bit in the end - ‘German company and international electronics powerhouse Siemens already has 6000 employees using Facebook, with plans to deliver exclusive Facebook apps for employee use in the future. According to Robert Scoble, Facebook could well become an substitute for Siemen’s corporate intranet’.

  2. Sadly Telstra are idiots. They’ve screwed up every other chance they had to be a contemporary player in telecoms, so I’m not surprised they’ve done this. Check out Mark Pesce’s critique of their current plans, it’s an interesting and scathing read: http://blog.futurestreetconsulting.com/?p=30
