Roquefort are Roqueing
My friend Woes from the Roquefort Kru gifted me their first (signed and numbered!) compilation album the other day. RF is a dj collective that play a nice blend of various grooves to make you move, basically. Hear them on Myspace here and check out when they’re roqueing in your stadsdeel.
ATTIGO ‘TouchTables’: The Future Of Deejaying?
Seven Songs Meme Is Go
The infamous Rubbishcorp tagged me - already a few weeks ago and alongside MC Hammer - for a ‘7 favorite songs for spring/summer’ meme type thing. I’ve taken my time to come up with a good list. Because this ain’t easy. And I’m not sure if the aim is nighttime boogie or daytime dreaminess?
Anyway, I chose a mix of both:
- The Egg - Venice Beach
- Cut Copy - Future
- Cut Copy - Unforgettable Season
- Aril Brikha - Berghain
- Alex Gopher - Brain Leech
- Crystal Castles - Courtship Date
- Aphex Twin - Alberto Balsam
I’ll probably keep editing this post until end of times..
Here’s Four Of My ‘Most-Played’ Albums
Here’s four albums that have been clogging up my ‘most-played’ listing lately… Some new some old.

Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours (2008)
It feels as if aussies Cut Copy picked up where pop music as a genre ’stopped’ in the late eighties. All songs will remind you of gone gods from gone times; Fleetwood Mac, Roxy Music, Human League, Erasure, etc. Not blatantly copied but mixed up with current vibes and production techniques. A step forward from its predecessor Bright Like Neon Love.
Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles (2008)
Typical 8-bit synth pop. Although I’m recommending this album I don’t like all 100% of it (skip that distorted shouty stuff like XXZXCUZX Me and Love and Caring) - but there certainly are some great tunes on this album. Recommended if you like that SID chip sound from the Commodore 64 - which was the sountrack to my youth, basically.

Radiohead - In Rainbows (2007)
OK so it’s not very exotic to name an album that must be on just about everyone’s favorite list. But its such a great album I just have to list it. Saw them playing a two+ hour set yesterday here in Amsterdam. Thom Yorke’s amazing voice, the tightness of the band playing together (studio as well as live), its all just incredible. Their best album so far.
Fabric Live 29 - Cut Copy (2006)
IMHO still the number one release on the best ‘commercial mixtape series’ out there: Fabric Live. This has got the best of everything, which makes it quite hard to label; maybe ‘An Eclectic Mix Of Electropop’ will do. Some great lyrics on here - like Munk’s Disco Clown and Whomadewho’s Hello, Empty Room. Not to mention Tiga’s crazy mix of Soulwax’s E Talking. Really can’t recommend this album enough.
Winemouse Dance Remix
You’ve probably seen the winemouse clip from Doperty & Winehouse, but have you seen the dance remix?
A Post For Marc Scissorhands..
..Erlend Oye a.k.a. Whitest Boy Alive vs. Fred Falke.
Right. I’m off to Paris now for some proper boogieing.
Kong Mixtape

Picked up one of these in Groningen this weekend.. probably the coolest tape dispenser made on Earth. Ever.
Update: Just found out you can order them online from here.
I’m Loving This Mix Album
Its been a while since I’ve stumbled upon such a nice dancey type mix(-album). This one here by M.A.N.D.Y. feels just right. It ticks all the right boxes for me:

[x] Deep / Spacey
[x] Rhytmic
[x] Mint production
Highly recommended.
