Nearly Spring

One of the main reasons I am in the UK is obviously the amazingly beautiful weather - this mobshot was taken Saturday last week at Waterlow Park in the Highgate area. Looks like the Vondelpark don’t you think?

Stuff I’m reading / watching at the moment

Director Michael Gondry dvd - a friend lend this to me, apparently the childhood memory interview shizzle is a must see // Moondust book - found this in a Spitalfields bookstore the other day. Writer Andrew Smith sets out to find and interview the nine remaining moonwalkers. Just started reading this, seems allright // John Meada, The laws of simplicity book - I used to like his ‘randomy’ digital art, kind of forgot about him untill I found this book - haven’t started reading it yet though // The philosophy of Andy Warhol book - bought this back in Amsterdam - reading bits of it every now and then.

Bricklane area [ ] checklist

[x] The Phunk is in the area

[x] Banksy is in the area

[x] Mad skillz are in the area

Went out this Sunday afternoon to visit Bricklane flowermarket & secondhand market, which are just around the corner from the flat - as well as many cool shops, bars, galleries and the souk-style Sunday Upmarket and Spitalfields market.

The Saturday Club

Today brought us the very first Saturday Club. The Saturday Club is all about spending a Saturday afernoon with good people, good food, good culture and a few pints to finish it all off. Todays TSC consisted of Dom, John, Julie and Garreth.

For the good food bit we went to Windsor Castle, Notting Hill, and for culture to the Science Museum to see the Game On exhibition: £8 to enter a giant play-as-much-as-you-like arcade with the whole history of videogaming under your fingertips, featuring: A genuine PDP-1 with the legendary Spacewar, tabletop Pacman units, Nintendos, Galaga machines, strange and rare Japanese units, headphone installations with classic SID tunes from the likes of Rob Hubbard and Ben Dalgish, and everything else.

Dom found a PANG! machine which is still as good today as it was back then. Shame there was only one joypad. Although if there was two we probably would still be there going at it right now.

We ended this splendid day in Covent Garden for some light shopping.

Get tickets, then don’t go

So the plan was that me and Iain would go and see Junior Boys in Camden yesterday. But then we both forgot to go. Next sunday Junior Boys play Paradiso in Amsterdam and Cathy, Woes and Jade are going. If they don’t forget. Which I’m sure they won’t.

Update 25 feb - SMS update just came in stating ‘JB’s rocked the house’.

Update 27 feb - Woes just sent me a few pics of the Amsterdam concert - I blatently cropped one up to fit my blog. Blasphemy, I know.

Tube message

So basically if you see somebody tagging a tube, you just call the number and a chopper will come flying into the tube tunnel - 007 style - to sort it all out.

Fashion Week, darling

So it is Fashion Week here in London and Sam invited me for the Kokon to Zai Fashion Week party at the Cafe Royal - popping up a bit late we ended up standing in a massive neverending que alongside the London Fashion People a.k.a. The Shoreditch Massive.

Finally giving up and moving on, Sam took me to Yauatcha, a very nice tea room / dim sum restaurant in Soho, for some wicked cocktails and some of the best cakes I have ever had. Apparently Yauatcha is one of two posh michelin-star rated outfits by the people who do Wagamama.

Yes, life can be quite tough in London..
