Phrasebook for Footballers’ Wives
At Kong we often work on projects that take a while to see the light of day. Or sometimes see the light of day shortly. I guess that’s how this advertising business works sometimes. Makes it extra nice to squeeze something through quickly every now and then. Something small that goes big.

Like the ‘Swiss-German phrasebook for Dutch footballers’ wives‘ we did for the Swiss Tourism Agency & Miljonair Magazine. It plays a new, relevant and handy phrase every day during the Eurocup tournament. For example the letter C is for Chihuahua: ‘Will this bag fit my chihuahua?’
Newsroom ANP picked up the news quickly and in less then a week later most newspapers in Holland and Belgium have mentioned the phrasebook, as well as a few blogs. We also released an english version a few days ago, which turned up on Kickette, which is a blog for… SWAGs, which means Soccer Wives And Girlfriends, in case you wondered ;-)
Update: Apparently Radio 538 has been covering this on a daily basis, too?
Kong Strikes Twice @ Art Directors Club
Wowaweewa! KONG picked up two ADCN awards last night for KPN and Oxfam.

Webby Awards 2008: Nominee + Honoree

News just reached the Kong Suites here in Amsterdam that we’re Official Webby Honoree for our Oxfam Blogsfam project. Nice! The Webby’s are also known as ‘The Oscars of the Internet’ according to The New York Times. But ofcourse you already knew that. Also Poke London picked up a Webby nomination for Spot the Bull, a project I had the pleasure to work on whilst at Poke.

Article For Adformatie (Correct Version)
I’ve been asked to write an article for dutch ad-mag Adformatie about the similarities and differences between the Art Directors Club and Spinawards here in Holland. After I did a final check-before-going-to-press the editor made a big error by replacing the word ‘Goeiemoogle’ with ‘Goeiemoggel’ (here’s a blogpost that explains the Goeiemoggel campaign and the fact that Kong only did the online bit).

‘Hors categorie’ …I wonder what that means?
Anyhow, here’s the right version (in dutch, but with these nifty hyperlinks that everyone’s talking about):
Three ADC Nominations For Kong!
We’ve only been going for a few months and its the only dutch award show we entered so I was more then a little ecstatic when I got this email last night:

…three Art Directors Club nominations for KPN and Oxfam.
Kong London Trip - Executive Summary

I was in London for a few days (part of a Kong Amsterdam delegation) for both business and pleasure. Business meaning visiting some amazing (and I mean amazing) production agencies, freelancers and possible future Kongsters.
Pleasure meaning popping in at Poke Towers for a quick catchup and suprising buddy Nathan by turning up to his enjoyable Blogfest event at the The Blue Posts pub on Berwick Street in SOHO (right opposite Yauatcha).
It was really nice to see everyone again. Thank you London. We’ll be back soon!
Adformatie Article
Dutch industry paper Adformatie did a nice article on digital agencies in combination with highlights of 2007. There’s contributions from a few people, including me. If you want you can download the article here.
Goeiemoogle Nederland

If you’re dutch (or in Holland even) its very likely you’ve heard someone say ‘knetterbek’ or ‘goeiemoggel’. Its a bit of a hype at the moment. Here’s the commercial for KPN that started it all, Its basically about a world where everyone is talking in mistyped/misspelled sms-language. Which is very funny:
Its made by Pim Kok and Hakan Coskunsoy from N=5, who asked us at Kong if we could think of doing something wacky with it on the Knetternet. We came up with Goeiemoogle which you can check out here. We’re still feeding it with more translations, so it will grow a bit over time. Coding done by our buddies at Romijo. Loeter!
Update: A few weeks down the line Google asked us kindly to remove the logo from the goeiemoogle sites, which we did.

A View Of A Kong (1)

Crap blackberry pic taken from the Kong Suites, which has massive windows. Cool thing is our new producer is also a photographer, and we’re getting him a KongCam..
