Oh Alright Then..

(from Ian Boyd)
Interview with Tim Berners Lee on the BBC site, Its mostly about plans by leading internet providers to use Phorm, a company which tracks web activity to create personalised adverts but there’s also some other bits and bobs.
I particularly liked this quote:
There are more websites then there are neurons in your brain.
(I tried embedding the video but that can’t be done - why not?).

Roam the skies and switch between Infrared, Microwave and Historical views with the new Google Sky (this used to be a Google Earth only app).
This is the legendary Korg MS20 analog synthesizer, brother of the equally legendary Korg MS10, which I owned and sold (stupid!):

This is - you guessed it - a Nintendo DS:

From the Korg site:
The KORG DS-10 is a music-creation software for the Nintendo DS that combines the superior interface of the Nintendo DS and the design concept of the famous MS-10 synthesizer.
Here’s a clip of the thing in action:
I’m speechless. It Sounds quite good, too.

Electronic-entertainment giant Take-Two Interactive, parent company of Grand Theft Auto series creator Rockstar Games, released Stacker Tuesday, a first-person vertical-crate-arranger guaranteed not to influence young people’s behavior in any way.
I’m loving the irony here - more on The Onion..
When driving to work last week I heard this (quite old) song on the radio. Since then I’ve been playing it quite a lot. I probably missed it at the time since 1988 had me completely occupied with acid house.
You might know it from the movie Donnie Darko, its by australian band The Church and called ‘Under The Milky Way’:
I played it in the Kong Suites today where Sean suprised me with this Wikipedia entry, here’s the interesting bit:
According to a press release , the song was written about an infamous Amsterdam hash bar called The Milky Way (Melkweg) Bar, which Kilbey used to frequent.

We aren’t sure if this is the ‘De Melkweg - Milky Way’ venue they’re talking about or just a random coffeeshop. But if the song is about De Melkweg, then perhaps the band’s name links to the Paradiso venue (which is an old church around the corner) ;)
We’ve only been going for a few months and its the only dutch award show we entered so I was more then a little ecstatic when I got this email last night:

…three Art Directors Club nominations for KPN and Oxfam.
