Marc Ecko Strikes Again

eckoheader.jpg

Fashion Designer Marc Ecko (remember Ecko tagging Airforce One?) revealed himself Monday as the winning bidder ($750,000) in the online auction for Barry Bonds’ record-breaking 756th home run ball, Ecko appeared on The Today Show to announce that he is turning the fate of the ball over to the fans.

“I bought this baseball to democratize the debate over what to do with it,” Ecko said. “The idea that some of the best athletes in the country are forced to decide between being competitive and staying natural is troubling.”

Visitors to the site Vote756.com can choose between three options:

1. “BESTOW IT” (as is into the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown)

2. “BRAND IT” (with an asterisk before delivering it to the Hall)

3. “BANISH IT” (by sending it into outer space on a rocketship, never to be seen or heard from again)

Really nice idea, very viral, like this a lot. (via Fallon planning)

Google Moon

“After over three decades, we’re finally getting ready to go back to the Moon.

To help you prepare, and to whet your appetite for exploration, we teamed up with scientists at the NASA Ames Research Center to bring you this collection of lunar maps and charts. This tool is an exciting new way to explore the story of the Apollo missions, still the only time mankind has set foot on another world”.

I’m enjoying Google Moon.

My Favorite Album of Now

wallz.jpg

Before I checked out this album I had only heard the track ‘Arcadia’ which reminded me of The Egg. Which is a good thing - the album ‘Forwards’ by The Egg is one of my favorite albums of recent times. But overall Walls has quite a different vibe to it. Not since Hot Chips’ ‘The Warning’ and Fujiya & Miyaki’s ‘Transparant Things’ have I enjoyed an album so much as Apparat - ‘Walls’.

Myspace and Design Ethics

I’ve always found Myspace a bit of a mess (understatement) but somehow took it for granted. So I wasn’t even shocked today when I logged in and landed on this page:

Reason 4 - Workflow Roundtable

Just ten days and Reason 4 will be here! Reason is a Virtual Studio application and it is really good. Its the reason (whats in a name) I sold all my hardboard studioware a few years ago, although I should not have sold my Korg MS20 : /

Seasoned professionals like A Guy Called Gerald, Flip Matrix, DJ Pierre (who is also in the Thank God Phuture Didn’t RTFM clip I posted last week) tell you how Reason 4 works for them. There’s some soundclips as well. Nice.
