Logo for Batsu

Batsu is the new Japanese store which my girlfriends’ mother and sister just opened in Groningen, Holland and they asked me to create the logo for it. The word batsu is a little hard to translate in english/dutch - According to Jeffreys E-J dictionary batsu means:

..in a playful way.

Article about the shop here (dutch).

Flickrvision

I wrote about the work of David Troy before - he’s the guy that did the lovely Twittervision. New from David is Flickrvision - and very likely to be even more addictive.

He’s probably working on Stumblevision as well now.

A decade of beeps

For a while now I have been Soulseeking music I used to play when I was still very much into techno, trance, ambient and all that stuff. Most of the ‘88-’98 stuff I download these days I have in my own vinyl collection as well - all neatly stashed away in 6 boxes.

So I figured it would make sense to get a Numark USB deck and start digitising my own collection instead of looking for poorly compressed mp3s. But which ones to start digitising? Any suggestions anyone?

Adfoblog / Top 10 controversial ads 2006

“A record number of adverts were complained about in 2006, the Advertising Standards Authority has said. The subjects which annoyed people, including the portrayal of same-sex kisses, religion and knives, reveals something of modern day concerns”.

Email trouble

The company I left at the end of 2006 decided to keep my mailbox alive but block me from access to it. Yesterday I found out quite a few contacts have emailed me at that adress over the last months - but didn’t hear back from me. Someone told me they received a reply ‘that the emailadres wasn’t in use anymore’, others nothing.

So whoever tried to mail me since the start of 2007 at that particular adress - your message(s?) haven’t reached me and this has been beyond me: Please use my Gmail.

(Update May 17th: Account seems to be closed now)

On a lighter tip: A project I’ve been working on last year has apparently been shortlisted for a SAN Accent : )

Welcome to the future?

From the NYT: “In a few years, it will be possible to make these items yourself. You will be able to download three-dimensional plans online, then push Print. Hours later, a solid object will be ready to remove from your printer.”

I wonder who would be keen on printing a 3d clay rubberduckie though (see middle). Read the entire article on the NYT.
